Adorning the Gospel

[ Titus 2:9-12 ]
Ice-Breaker
Think about the last time you dressed up or prepared something to look nice (home, outfit, meal, etc.). What difference did that extra effort make?
Transition: Paul uses a similar idea in Titus. He says believers ‘adorn’ the Gospel—like arranging something beautiful—through the way we live. Let’s see what that means.
Sermon Questions
Read the Passage (Titus 2:1–12). Have someone read the text aloud. Encourage the group to listen for how Paul says believers make the Gospel attractive.
Adorning through God’s Word and Christ’s Example
  • Titus 1:1, 1:9; 2:1, 2:6–8; 2:11–12
  • We “adorn” the Gospel when our lives are ordered by God’s Word and reflect Christ’s example.
What does it practically look like to “order your life” by God’s Word?
How does Christ’s example (Phil. 2:5-11) shape the way we live in our families, workplaces, and communities?
Adorning through Self-Control and Submission
  • Titus 2:2, 5, 6; 2:9–10
  • Paul highlights self-control and submission—even in difficult or ordinary places like servant–master relationships.
Why do you think self-control is repeated for every group in Titus 2?
How can our attitude toward work and authority “adorn” or “disfigure” the Gospel?
Application
Where in your life is God calling you to bring better “order” through obedience to His Word?
How can you reflect Christ’s character more clearly this week—in your home, workplace, or relationships?
Are there any attitudes or habits (e.g., complaining at work, being argumentative, cutting corners) that may dull the beauty of the Gospel to others?
What’s one practical change you can make this week to “adorn the doctrine of God our Savior” (Titus 2:10)?
Closing Thought
The world may not read the Bible, but it reads our lives. When we live under God’s Word, follow Christ’s example, exercise self-control, and serve faithfully, we make the Gospel beautiful to those around us.
Close with a brief prayer asking God to make the group’s lives a clear, attractive reflection of Jesus.
